A few good
questions.
Who we are, how private investments work, and what matters before you invest.
-
Raise Private Capital is an Australian investment distribution business providing eligible wholesale investors with access to selected private-market investment opportunities offered by third-party investment managers and issuers.
Led by Al Wheldon, Raise helps prospective investors explore available opportunities, understand the investment documentation and discuss matters such as structure, security arrangements, potential returns and risks.
Raise does not itself issue or manage the investments it introduces. Investment applications are made through the relevant issuer or investment structure, subject to eligibility and the applicable offer documentation.
-
Private market investments involve financial assets or investment opportunities that are not traded on public securities exchanges in the same way as listed shares.
They can include private credit, property-related investments, privately issued debt securities and other investment structures.
Unlike listed investments, private market opportunities may have restricted access, limited liquidity, fixed or expected investment terms and specific conditions governing distributions and repayment.
Each opportunity has its own structure and risks. Investors should review the relevant offer documentation to understand how the investment operates, how capital is deployed and the circumstances in which it may be returned.
-
Private credit generally involves lending to borrowers outside traditional banking channels, often through investment funds or other privately arranged financing structures.
Some private credit investments are supported by security over property or other assets. The nature and priority of that security can differ significantly between opportunities.
Investment returns may be funded by borrower interest payments, fees or other amounts specified in the investment documentation.
Asset backing does not guarantee repayment. Borrower defaults, asset values, enforcement costs, security ranking and other risks can affect the recovery of invested capital.
Understanding the legal security arrangements is important before considering an investment.
-
Like all investment options, Private market investments carry risks. These risks can depend on the underlying assets, borrowers, investment structure and market conditions.
These may include borrower default, declining asset values, delayed distributions, limited liquidity, difficulty enforcing security and the partial or complete loss of invested capital.
Unlike investments traded on public exchanges, some private investments cannot readily be sold or redeemed before maturity. Expected investment terms may also be extended.
Security arrangements may provide rights against particular assets, but they do not eliminate investment risk or guarantee recovery.
Investors should understand the specific risks and repayment arrangements described in the relevant offer documentation before committing capital.
-
Private investments can generate returns through several mechanisms, depending on their structure.
Private credit investments commonly target income from interest or other payments made by borrowers. Other private-market investments may provide distributions linked to underlying asset income, financing arrangements or the realisation of an investment.
Some opportunities may include conditional bonuses or additional returns linked to events such as loan repayment or asset sales.
Distributions may be scheduled monthly, quarterly, at maturity or at other specified times.
Target returns and distribution schedules are not guaranteed. Payments may be delayed, reduced or not made, and invested capital may not be repaid in full.
